A few minutes back, the makers of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi have dropped the trailer of the period drama. The film, which stars Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Danny Denzongpa among others chronicles Rani Laxmi Bai’s journey to protect her people from the British rule. The 3-minute 19-second trailer sees Kangana put everything at stake just so that the future generations can “celebrate” freedom. From the body language to the diction, the actress invests a lot to play the role of a warrior, right. The background score is the perfect accompaniment to the period drama.

A few days ago, Ankita, who is set to debut with Manikarnika, had shared her first look as Jhalkari Bai from the film on social media, which was praised by one and all. Atul’s look was released yesterday.

Talking about the Queen, the actress had once told IANS, "I've grown up listening to Rani Laxmibai's legend and folklore like all of us but at the same time I did not know the intensity of her life. Her youth had gone in battling the enemy and preparing the regular people to become warriors.”

She had added, “What was unknown about her life is that she fought for many things that are acceptable today like adoption and women empowerment. She was completely against untouchability and she neither believed in caste system. She was a Brahmin who fought like Kshatriyas. She fought against Bargad Pratha, Parda system, caste system and untouchability. She fought for all these things relentlessly and conquered all those. She was a visionary and I value the freedom that we have because of her a lot more. Manikarnika... is a heartfelt tribute to Rani Laxmibai, who gave birth to Indian independence, a hero who inspires generations even now."
