Apurva Asrani takes a dig at Manikarnika actress, Kangana
Ranaut, who has been accused of over shadowing her directors in the past. In a
series of cryptic social media posts, the Simran writer, says that when a star
tries to hijack the film, it’s the worst kind of hara-kiri.
Last year, Apurva had accused Kangana of taking creative
liberties with the script of Hansal Mehta’s Simran, written by him. Hansal had
sided with Kangana then, just like producer Kamal Jain, who's by Kangana's side
in the ongoing ugly public spat between the actress and Sonu Sood.
Apurva, who has kept a low profile since, has resurfaced
to take a veiled swing at Kangana. Not naming Kangana, Apurva tweeted
about the controversy writing, "A star hijacking a film & running down
the hard work of crew member/s is the worst form of hara-kiri there is. When
affected filmmakers cannot control this & instead put on a facade of a
‘dignified silence’, they allow a monstrous ego to go on a rampage &
eventually kill the film (sic)."

He went on to write, "Zero tolerance. From day one. If the actor refuses to abide by the contract, threaten/get legal intervention. I know many directors who have replaced tantrum throwing stars early on. And the studios have supported the courage & conviction of the maker (sic)."

He further wrote, "If someone else is directing your film & you are unable to stop him/her, then just quit! Before your self esteem is eroded. Unless ofcourse you are greedy for a commercial ‘hit’ & are prepared to sacrifice your team. I think in the current hijacked film the director has bowed out (sic)."

Finally, he wrote, "Its not that. I think the star disowning a film is what a producer fears. There is patchwork, dubbing & promotions to complete, so the producer is held by his/her balls till the nth moment. It is an abusive relationship. But if they don’t stand up to it, the film will get abused (sic).

Interestingly while Apurva is showing support to Manikarnika’s former director Krish, the man himself has chosen to remain silent in the whole matter. A few hours back we told you that Manikarnika producer has entered the battle field. In an extremely thought-over quote, Kamal Jain (producer) told SpotboyE.Com EXCLUSIVELY, "The additional shoot of the film is presently underway at ND Studios at Karjat, near Mumbai. After the last schedule was over, we saw the line-up of the film. On seeing it, we decided that apart from the patchwork, we also needed a few additional scenes. Once the scenes were written, we approached Kangana for additional dates. But Krish had moved on to his next project by then. Given how driven and creatively involved Kangana Ranaut has been on this project since its inception, we realised that she would be the best person to take over the mantle. Hence, there is no hijacking of the project and whatever decisions are being taken are with the full support of the producer and the studio. We have an aggressive production schedule ahead of us since we are committed to releasing the film on January 25, 2019. Our team is totally focused and dedicated to finish the patchwork shoot to complete the film on time as our release date of Jan 25, 2019. The post production and VFX is going on in full swing and as well as the balance and patch shoot. I have utmost respect and love for Sonu and he is like family to us. With a heavy heart we have mutually decided to part ways due to his date unavailability. He is a thorough professional and have his dates committed to Simmba which is also releasing in December. I would love to work with him in the future again."
