Yesterday, we had told you that Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika’s litmus test shall begin starting Monday considering it’s a working week sans holidays. On Day 4, the period drama dropped by 41.71% and collected Rs 5.10 crore. Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film’s business at the box-office and wrote, “#Manikarnika is decent on crucial Mon. Decline on Day 4 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 41.71%... North circuits continue to lead... Week 1 should be close to ₹ 60 cr [as per trends]... Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 18.10 cr, Sun 15.70 cr, Mon 5.10 cr. Total: ₹ 47.65 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu.”

Clearly, Manikarnika has begun to struggle after a decent initial draw. Ravi Sibbal of PVR says, “The occupancy was barely 18% yesterday as opposed to 80% on Saturday and Sunday.” An official from Carnival Cinemas, on condition of anonymity, says, “While Kangana-starrer Manikarnika’s shows have dropped, the theatre owners are not bothered as Uri has compensated on Monday as well.”

The second official of Carnival was more forthcoming and said that Manikarnika has suffered. The official said, “On Sunday, the film registered an occupancy of 52% but fell sharply on Monday to 25%.”

Manoj Desai, Executive Director, Gaiety Galaxy-Maratha Mandir told us footfalls have been declining. In fact, he said that Manikarnika registered a strong dip on Sunday itself. “Monday Tuesday have been still lesser. Kangana has acted brilliantly, but somehow it has not translated into attracting the public to the theatres.” We bet, the producers (Zee Studios and Ease My Trip) are on the edge about being able to recover the film’s cost –Rs 100 crore (approx).
