Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan ended their 18-year
marriage last week and now, the former ensures that the she is addressed
as ‘Malaika Arora’ only. Case in point -- an event that took place at Vadodara
yesterday.
Malaika was invited as a chief guest of an event at
Vadodara. However, reports suggest that when she landed at the venue, she saw
that the name tag on her chair read -- Malaika Arora Khan. She expressed her
displeasure at the ‘Khan’ not being omitted and clearly told the organisers
that she wants it removed before the event progresses. It is said that
soon after, an official came in and tore the ‘Khan’ bit from the tag so that it
just read –Malaika Arora.
Meanwhile, despite having gone their separate ways,
Malaika and Arbaaz remain good friends and are often spotted at family
gatherings and outings. The two were recently spotted at the Justin Bieber
concert with their son in tow.
Interestingly a lot of times, Bollywood grapevine was
abuzz with whispers that the two stars were working on their relationship to
avoid an annulment. The rumours had gotten stronger when the estranged couple spent Karva Chauth together, last year.
Arbaaz’s brother, Salman Khan, too had tried to play mediator between the
warring couple as the Khan family did not want the marriage to end.
Post the divorce, Arhaan’s custody was given to
Malaika, while Arbaaz as complete access to him. Also, contrary to reports that
Malaika didn’t ask for alimony, SpotboyE.com told you that she, in fact,
demanded a hefty ₹15 crore as alimony.
Getting back to the name controversy, we wonder if
Malaika is so clear about omitting Khan from her name, why does her official
Instagram handle still say 'MalaikaAroraKhanOfficial'?
Food for thought!
