Trailer of Section 375 shook the nation on its release by letting out the hard-hitting facts and how a court proceeds in such cases. Starring Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha, the duo seem to be at loggerheads; while Akshaye plays the criminal lawyer defending the accused, Richa plays the public prosecutor fighting for justice for the victim played by Meera Chopra. But this court drama has come under scrutiny, for tarnishing the image of lawyers showcased in certain parts of trailer.

A petition has been filed against the makers and actor Akshaye Khanna in Pune court, demanding a stay on the film's release. Tweet on New18 official Twitter handle read, "A Pune Court has summoned actor Akshay Khanna and producers of the film #Section375. A petition has been filed by an advocate, demanding stay on the release of the film. As per the petitioner, some scenes in the film malign the image of the legal professionals."Advocate Wajed Khan Bidkar and Amarjeet Mhaske have filed the petition.

The filed petition has mentioned how a film is maligning the lawyer's profession by asking inappropriate questions to the victim in the court, making the victim feel uncomfortable. Thus, resulting into a total reverse affect on the real life victims, who will then remain quiet and won't file complaint for such hideous acts due to fear and discomfort.

Bidkar was quoted saying by Pune Mirror, “The film maligning the image of legal professionals and their vocation. The scenes, including cops taking the statement of the rape survivor inside the police station and recording cross statement inside the courtroom, are removed from facts.”

Joint civil judge RH Nahani after hearing the case has asked the actor and producers to be present in the court on September 9 for the same. Section 375 is set to release on September 13, 2019.
