Naresh Kathooria has made a name for himself in the Punjabi entertainment industry as a screenwriter, producer and an actor. Having worked extensively in the film and television industry, he is all set to make his much-awaited Bollywood debut as a scriptwriter, with Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer Dream Girl 2. He has now sent a legal notice to the makers of the movie for not including his name in the credit slate on the trailer.
According to the notice, Naresh wrote the script and the screenplay of the movie which is jointly produced by Thinkink Picturez, Balaji Telefilms, Pen Marudhar Cine Entertainment Private Limited and Zee Cinema. The notice states that under the Writer Agreement, the makers and Naresh had decided that his name will be mentioned in the credit slate that will be in all “print media, trailer, and in all publicity, advertising, marketing material.” ALSO READ: Dream Girl 2 Teaser OUT: Ranveer Singh’s Rocky Can’t Stop Crushing Over Ayushmann Khurrana's Dream Girl 2! The credits for the movie were sent to the writer for approval where the makers wanted to add director Raaj Shaandilyaa’s name to the ‘Story by’ credit section on the trailer. Despite being conveyed that it would mislead everyone, since the story doesn’t belong to the director, it came as a shock to Kathooria when his name was excluded and replaced with Raaj’s name in the trailer. He wasn’t even given credit in the “Video Description below the Trailer on YouTube.” ALSO READ: Dream Girl 2 Ayushmann Khurrana’s First Look In A Female Avatar LEAKED! The notice further states that the complete absences of the ‘written by’ credit has “ caused irreparable and irreversible loss, harm, damage” to Naresh’s “reputation, goodwill, and standing in the film industry.” He has not only demanded that the trailer be taken down to add his name “in the Trailer, in the Film, and in all promotional, advertising, publicity, and marketing materials of the Film,” but to also include him in all the promotional activities. The writer also wants an amount of Rs 10 crores for breaching the Writer Agreement and for the “damages suffered on account of loss of reputation, opportunity loss, embarrassment, and mental agony.”
Talking about Dream Girl 2, it is a sequel of Ayushmann Khuranna and Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer Dream Girl (2018).
