Mahima Chaudhry On Career-Threatening Accident: Pardes Actress Reveals She Was Called ‘Scarface’; Says ‘It Still Hurts Me’

Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhry marked her Hindi film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 1997 film Pardes. After that, she went on to feature in films- Dil Hai Tumhaara, Dil Kya Kare, Dhadkan, Daag: The Fire and several others. Mahima who was a popular actress in the 90s experienced a career-threatening accident back then. The incident took place on the last day of the shoot of the film Dil Kya Kare. It happened in Bangalore. In an interview now, Mahima Chaudhry opened up about her accident and the obstacles after that.

Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, the Dil Kya Kare actress turned emotional and recalled the time when she was called ‘Scarface’ due to the accident injuries. She also shared that Ajay Devgn and Kajol were helpful at that time. Mahima revealed that the accident happened when she was on her way to the shoot. She recalled that, back then, a ‘dhoodh wala truck’ hit her car and ‘smashed it’ into a roundabout. The actress shared that she didn’t break any bones, but hurt her face. Mahima added, “The glass came like bullets into my face.”

Mahima Chaudhry opened up about the time when she was recovering from the accident. She mentioned that she had started preparing herself for life beyond movies because she had lost hope of a return. The actress then went on to mention how Ajay Devgn, who was one of the producers of the film were her big support. She said, “When I had my accident, they came to the set when nobody was allowed, and they took a shot... And they wrote 'Mahima's had an accident, and she has scars on her face, we can finally call her scarface'. It still hurts me. How nasty can you be?" The actress also revealed that Ajay and Kajol saw to it that nobody in the industry got to know about the scars. She said, "Ajay and Kajol, who were my producers, saw to it that nobody in the industry got to know about it. At that time, it would have devastated my career."
