Madhuri Dixit Nene's mother Snehlata Dixit has left for her heavenly abode today, March 12 at the age of 91. The cause of her death is yet to be revealed. Her last rites will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Worli crematorium. The news of Snehlata's sudden passing away has left the actress and family members heartbroken. Madhuri and her doctor husband Shriram Nene shared the sad news via a joint statement.
Their statement read, “Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones.” Madhuri was very close to her mother and has often expressed love for her mom during media interviews. Last year in June on her late mom’s birthday, the Devdas actress shared her throwback pictures with her dear mom Snehlata alongside a heartfelt note. Her birthday post read, “Happy Birthday, Aai! They say a mother is a daughter’s befriend. They couldn’t be any more right. From everything that you’ve done for me, the lessons that you’ve taught have been the biggest gift for me from you. I wish you only good health & happiness.”
Interestingly, in 2013 Madhuri's mother recorded a song 'Gulaab Gang' with the actress. In an old interview with ETimes, the Dhak Dhak girl spoke about her mother and revealed how her behaviour towards her never changed even after she became a successful actor. Madhuri was quoted saying, “I mean, even when I was working in films, my mom used to scold me if my room was messed up and things like that. So that's how I was brought up. And that's how I am. When I go home, everything is back in the studio. I see my kids and I see my husband and it's just a different life. I never really lost myself.”
