Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has accepted his fellow filmmaker Karan Johar’s apology. The latter had penned a note on his social media account responding to the Fashion director’s complaint of using a title for his upcoming series on Netflix registered by Madhur Bhandarkar, by tweaking it a bit. Now Madhur has responded to Karan’s post and expressed being hurt but decided to let it go. While Madhur penned this note he recalled the time when KJO requested him for a certain title in the past and he had happily given it to him.
Madhur expressed being upset that this time around he expected the same from KJo, but Karan took it ahead despite the rejection. He wrote in his note to Karan, “Dear @KaranJohar. Thank you for your response. This is indeed a close-knit industry and it operates on mutual trust and respect. When we blatantly disregard norms that we ourselves have established, then it makes very little sense calling ourselves a ‘fraternity’.” Continuing further he gave out the deets of the film which KJo has asked from him in the past.
He further wrote, “I didn’t hesitate a moment in the past before granting you the title “GUTKA” in 2013, that you had requested from me, and hence I would have expected the same courtesy in return when I declined you the use of a title I had duly registered, and which I did not intend to part with. The fact that you went ahead and used the title anyway despite our conversation and despite it also having been rejected by the trade associations, is what had upset me deeply.”
He also mentioned, “This is not how I believe real relationships work. But let’s move forward.”
