Madhur Bhandarkar Agrees To Put A Disclaimer In Indu Sarkar Stating That Events Have Been ‘Dramatised’

Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Indu Sarkar, which tells the tale of a woman who stands up against the state during the Emergency of 1975-77, has been grabbing headlines for some time now. The filmmaker has been getting a lot of backlash from Congress party supporters claiming that his upcoming film Indu Sarkar is a ‘propaganda film’ against the political party. In the wake of all these controversies, the censor board suggested 12 cuts to the film.

Madhur has now agreed to put a disclaimer at the start of the film stating that the events depicted in it have been ‘dramatised’. “I have said that it (the film) is 70 per cent fiction and 30 per cent real. Events have been dramatized for purpose of the film. I am going to put a disclaimer,” said Madhur during a promotional event of Indu Sarkar.

Moving on, he also mentioned that it was a very simple story about a husband and wife, set during the time of emergency.

Just a day ago, a woman claiming to be Sanjay Gandhi's daughter had emerged to claim that the film showed her father in a bad light. She sent a notice to Madhur and his team regarding the film's release, and Madhur said that his legal team has given a fitting reply. “I also heard what she said. Earlier also I have got some legal letters from her. My lawyers have countered and replied. I am sure you will get it soon. We have acknowledged it. We have replied,” said Madhur.

Indu Sarkar starring Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Supriya Vinod, is set to hit theatres on July 28.
