The actress chooses the money-spinner American Network assignment over National Award winning filmmaker Bhandarkar's realistic film.

It can now be told why Priyanka Chopra pushed her maiden co-production Madamjiby six months. The Madhur Bhandarkar directed film which was scheduled to kick off in November 2014 has been postponed to April 2015.

Contrary to reports that Sanjay Leela Bhansali extended her schedule of Bajirao Mastani which in turn had a domino effect on her film Madamji, Priyanka chose not to postpone her ABC Studios show simply because she stands to receive a remuneration of Rs 21 crore for the same.

Priyanka Chopra signed an exclusive talent and development deal with leading US TV network ABC Studios two weeks ago. Executive Vice-President (Casting, ABC Entertainment Group) Keli Lee inked the deal with Priyanka in Mumbai. Under a one-year contract, ABC will either develop a starring vehicle for Priyanka or cast her in an existing project set for 2015.

A source close to the actress says, "Why should Priyanka put her ABC assignment on the back-burner? Rs 21 crore is not a small amount. Money plays a big role in Tinsel Town. The ABC offer is very lucrative."

Added the source, "Priyanka's ABC deal came much after she had locked her dates for Madamji. She could have started Madamji in December/January but gave priority to the ABC project instead."

This is Priyanka's third big overseas assignment in the last one-and-half year. The ABC deal comes after she had a voice role in the animated feature Planes. Her first single, In My City, was also selected as the theme song to the 2013 season of the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football and her cover of Bonnie Raitt’s I Cant Make You Love Me featured in a campaign for Beats By Dre.
