Come June, Vidya Balan is supposed to step into Rituparna Sengupta’s shoes of Begum Jaan. The Parineeta actress will play the central character in the partition drama Lakir, the remake of the revered Bengali film Rajkahini.
But there’s a glitch. Will the film be as heavy in sex as the original? "No, Srijit Mukherjee (the film's director) has decided to reduce the sexual content. He doesn't want to take a panga with the CBFC," says a source.
When contacted, Mukherjee confirmed and said, "The film is set in a whorehouse. So, sexual content is definitely a part of the narrative. But we'll tone it down."
Are you happy, Pahlaj Nihalani?
