There are some ancestrals houses of the iconic actors of Hindi Cinema built in Pakistan. The current owners of these palatial houses want to demolish the.lm to construct commercial plazas. However, the Pakistan government has refrained their current owners from doing so. The government wants to preserve them keeping in view their historic importance. Earlier, we reported about Raj Kapoor's ancestral house which was called the 'Kapoor Haveli' and is currently situated in Pakistan getting demolish threats from the owner. Even though the house was in a dilapidated condition, in 2018, the Pakistan government decided to convert the 'Kapoor Haveli' into a museum.
They wanted to buy the haveli from the owner and wanted to conserve it in its original shape for the tourists. However, the latest reports in TOI suggests Pakistan's provincial government to buy iconic Dilip Kumar as well the late legendary veteran Raj Kapoor's anscestral houses. As per reports, the provincial government in Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has decided to purchase their ancestral houses, in order to preserve the national pride. The palatial houses were built in the undivided country and both Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor's houses are situated close to each other as they lie in the heart of Peshawar city. As per the portal, the Department of Archaeology in KP province has decided to allocate sufficient funds for purchasing the two buildings, which have been declared as national heritage.
Nevertheless, this report mentioned that the owner of Kapoor Haveli never wanted to demolish this masterpiece for the commercial market but wanted to hand it over to the government. Reportedly, the owner has demanded Rs 200 crore from the KP government to sell it out to the government. However, the effect is yet to be materialised and we have to see what will be the final decision.
