Late Irrfan Khan's Wife Sutapa Expresses She Hasn't Healed Yet; 'The Loneliness Is Very Strong'

Irrfan Khan breathed his last on April 29, 2020 leaving everyone numb. The actor par-excellence lost his battle with a rare form of cancer and left for his heavenly abode leaving behind a void that can never be filled. He was a gem, the finest ever produced by the Indian film industry. It has been a year since his demise, yet he is alive in the memories of his fans and loved ones. In her recent interview, wife Sutapa opened up on life without Irrfan Khan. She mentioned that she is still trying to come to terms with it that he isn't around. She expressed that she feels Irrfan is around even though not physically present.

Talking to Times of India, Sutapa revealed that she hasn't healed yet from the loss she suffered. "No, it’s not healing. I have got work to do. I have got offers to write, but I have not been able to concentrate to write. Getting into another zone altogether is becoming very difficult. Abhi tak toh main career ko seriously le hi nahi pa rahi hoon. I have got two-three people asking me, ‘will you now start writing, are you okay? Are you ready?’ But nahi ho raha hai," she said.

Sutapa then mentioned about staying busy with the chores and responsibilities trying to keep it normal. She adds, "But sometimes, you know, it just hits me – the helplessness. As if I am lying down and then somebody has really punched me in the lower abdomen. That pain is like a punch. And it’s the whole feeling of helplessness, extreme helplessness which makes you feel very insignificant."


When asked how she copes with his absence, Sutapa quoted, "The loneliness is very strong. Because as is, we were not very social, we did not have too many friends. We were always that two-people unit." She revealed that since the actor was often busy with his work commitments, she would generally be on her own. However, when they had time, they would spend together watching films or talking. "So it’s so revolved around him and along with him.
