Presently, according to a media report in Hindustan Times, there is an ongoing effort to bring his life story to the silver screen. The report confirms that a film based on Lalu's life is indeed in the works, with the project having been actively progressing for the past five to six months. When discussing the content of the forthcoming biopic, the source emphasized that it is currently premature to divulge specific details. However, they did affirm that the film aims to shed light on the lesser-known facets of the politician's life, offering a thorough and in-depth portrayal of his remarkable journey and achievements. Hindustan Times reported, citing a source closely connected to the project, that the script rights have been acquired from Yadav's family, and Prakash Jha's production company is set to spearhead this venture. Furthermore, it was revealed that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Lalu's son, is funding the project, with the initial funds already disbursed to commence the work.
This isn't the first time that the news of a biopic on Lalu Prasad Yadav circulating online. Previously, a report by Press Trust of India (PTI) had indicated the production of a biopic titled "Lalten" on the politician's life, with an expected release in February 2020. It was mentioned that Bhojpuri actor Yash Kumar was slated to portray the lead role in the film. However, it appears that the project was subsequently canceled.
