Just a while ago, we have reported that Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Drive will have a Netflix release instead of theatrical release, owing to Rajput's nude scene in the film. And now the latest news what we have heard is that Kunal Kemmu's upcoming film, Lootcase too is following the same route but with a different reason. The film which was scheduled to hit the big screens on October 11 will not be released in the theatres but on OTT platform, thanks to the low buzz around the film.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers are unwilling to release the film in the theatres as they suspect low box-office collections, considering the low buzz around the film. Plus, the film will be clashing with Priyanka Chopra's comeback film, The Sky Is Pink. Hence, the makers actively feel that Lootcase will perform better if released on an OTT platform instead of a theatrical release.
A source told the leading website, "The makers had a meeting on Saturday and decided to not go ahead with the theatrical release of Lootcase. They are confident of the product but they are aware that the buzz is very low. Moreover, the star cast, though appealing, is not big enough to pull audiences to cinemas. Not to forget, there’s too much competition in the form of War, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Joker releasing this week on October 2 and The Sky Is Pink releasing on October 11, the day Lootcase was scheduled to arrive. It’s also the pre-Diwali period when people are busy with shopping and other activities and turnout anyway are low. All these factors would have affected the collections of Lootcase, even if it gets positive word of mouth."
The film also stars Rasika Dugal, Gajraj Rao, Ranvir Shorey, Vijay Raaz. However, an official announcement is yet to be made by both parties. Well, we wonder what will be Lootcase's fate at the box-office.
