Ashutosh Gowariker''s films are believed to be long, and frankly since he often makes ones based on history- it's a 'coffee toffee' argument that can go on till the cows come home. Now here's the latest buzz on his latest venture Panipat which hit theatres, last week.

SpotboyE.com has heard whispers in the industry that Panipat has been shortened by 15 min, 14 min 47 sec to be precise. The decision was taken about three-four days ago and the shortened version will come into play from Friday, maybe even tomorrow. The actors, Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt we believe are aware of it and on the same page as Ashutosh.

So what has been cut. A source says, "There's a hookah scene in the film, that's gone. So, the two Akshay Kumar ads of Sanitary pads Vs Cigarettes have also been taken out. Plus, Ashutosh has trimmed a bit of the portions that had apparently hurt sentiments in Jaipur. Shows of Panipat had been cancelled in Jaipur as Rajasthan government had intervened asking for the same. And then, Rajasthan minister Vishvendra Singh alleged that the film depicts his ancestor Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur, as not helping the Maratha army while they were retreating after the battle. 'The portrayal of Maharaja Surajmal has hurt the sentiments of Jats', said Singh.

According to the source, the entire scissoring has been done very judiciously, keeping in mind that the flow of the film remains seamless.

Ashutosh Gowariker's co-producer, wife Sunita Gowariker confirmed the story.
