Just
a few minutes back, Shah Rukh Khan joined the cast of Karan Johar’s Sidharth
Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna starrer Ittefaq, at Mumbai’s Taj
Lands End.
Shah Rukh Khan & Karan Johar At Ittefaq Media Meet
Introducing
the stars, KJo said, “We have two non nepotistic people - Shah Rukh Khan and
Sidharth Malhotra, and the remaining, Akshaye Khanna, Sonakshi Sinha, and
myself - are the brand ambassadors of nepotism.”
Ittefaq is inspired from the 1969 film by the same name, directed by Yash Chopra.
Shah
Rukh thanked Karan for making, “Ittefaq(1969), one his favourite films,
relevant in today’s time because some films like Devdas and Don, which I have
done, will never be better than the classic. It’s an attempt to reintroduce the
great cinema.”
KJO
said he thought Akshaye Khanna was “weird” and “scary” before proceeding to
thank for coming on-board for the film. “You said no to Qurbaan, we know
how that shaped up (laughs). I’m glad you said yes this time. I thought, you
might say yes, or you might say no, there is no way of gauging from your tone.
I was telling someone -This dude is weird! You have a really scary tone
Akshaye,” added KJO.
Sonakshi said that
her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha couldn’t do Ittefaq (1969)... but
she’s doing it now, “life has come full circle,” added Sona.
Ittefaq is an upcoming 2017 Indian thriller film, directed by Abhay Chopra and
produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions.
