Speculation has been rife about Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra's friendship running into troubled waters. Things are believed to be strained between them following the lukewarm response to Malhotra's directorial venture Brothers and KJo's consequent decision to shelve Shuddhi.
There were even murmurs that the two are not on talking terms.
But you can count on us to get you the asli story.
SpotboyE has exclusively found out that contrary to rumours, KJo and Malhotra are collaborating again. And we've got it straight from the horse's mouth.
When contacted, the Agneepath director said, "I'm very much with Dharma Productions. I'm working on a script for the banner. We'll be discussing the subject after Karan returns from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil shoot (which is tonight or tomorrow). I intend to take the film on floors next year."
With this, Malhotra has quashed all rumours of a fallout between him and his mentor.
Sure, KJo had admitted to being disappointed when Brothers didn't live up to expectations (Karan Johar: I took Gauri Shinde's script to Shah Rukh). The filmmaker then decided to play it safe and put Shuddhi on the backburner (Varun-Alia's Shuddhi put on hold. Again!, October 5).
This allegedly hadn't gone down well with Malhotra who asked the Student Of The Year director to reconsider his stance.
However, it is clear that the duo has moved past Brothers. All's well that ends well.
