The year 2019 proved to be a good turning point in the life of Kiara Advani thanks to Kabir Singh’s super success. However, it wasn’t an easy ride for the actress who’s faced tough times in the industry.
Her debut film Fugly that released in 2014 bombed at the box-office and after 2 years, she was noticed in MS Dhoni- The Untold Story. But after Dhoni, there again came a brief lull and things only saw turned brighter post Lust Stories and Kabir Singh.
So we asked the actress whether she felt depressed post the debacle of Fugly in 2014? Kiara said, “I wouldn’t use the word ‘depressed’. But it did take me to my lowest. It made me feel a little unsure about whether I would get another opportunity. Because I’m not an insider to know how it works. And I didn’t even have an agency or a manager at that time. So, when Fugly didn’t too well, I went into a shell. There were a lot of low moments.”
Kiara added,” Then, my audition in Dhoni biopic was liked by the director and I was cast in the film. I was appreciated in a way that motivated me. That hadn’t happened after my first film. But, after that period, there was again a lull. So, I realized that nothing is certain, it’s Friday to Friday. After working in the film Machine, designer Manish Malhotra noticed me in a song and suggested my name to Karan Johar and that’s how I was cast in Lust Stories. That film made people see the actor in me.”
And then, Kabir Singh happened for the actress who’s now on a career high with as many as 4 films in her kitty- Indu Ki Jawaani, Shershaah, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Laxmmi Bomb. In fact, her recent release Good Newwz is also being lapped up by the viewers. Atta girl!
