Karisma Kapoor Speaks Up About #MeToo Movement; Says, "Proven Offenders Should Be Punished"

Tanushree Dutta’s account of facing sexual harassment at the hands of Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn 'Ok' Pleasss back in 2008 kick-started the #MeToo movement in India. Since then a number of survivors have come out and narrated their experiences. Several celebrities have also extended support to the movement and Karisma Kapoor is the latest celebrity to speak about the movement.

Speaking to DNA, Karisma said, “I am shocked after reading the stories that many women are sharing every day. I respect and support them. They have been through so much. It’s great that they are finally coming forward and expressing themselves.”


Karisma added, "Proven offenders should be punished for the crimes they have committed and efforts should be taken to make the workplace a better space,” she added while speaking to DNA.

Lastly, she also laid emphasis on the fact that people should confide in family or friends. “It’s important to talk to someone — whether a professional, a friend or a family member.  Sharing your problems will ease things out,” she concluded while speaking to DNA.
