Morani surrendered at the Hayatnagar police station in Hyderabad late on Friday night, hours after the Supreme Court upheld an order passed by the Hyderabad high court cancelling the anticipatory bail granted to him.

In January 2017, a woman lodged a complaint with Hayatnagar police alleging that Morani had lured her into sexual relation by promising to marry her. She said she was raped repeatedly in Mumbai and also twice at the Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of Hyderabad between September and October, 2015.

Following the complaint, the producer was booked under IPC sections 417 (punishment for cheating), 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) and other relevant sections of the IPC.

The girl, who lodged a complaint, alleged that Morani had first drugged her and then violated her sexually. She also accused him of exploiting her by threatening to post her nude photos online if she complained to the police.

Morani is part of the trio behind Cineyug Entertainment, a Mumbai-based production and events company. Cineyug Films landed in rough waters when the CBI uncovered its links with Swan Telecom and Dynamix Realty, both involved in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
