This Diwali was
indeed a sad one for Rani Mukerji and her family as the talented actress lost
her father on October 22. The veteran producer was
84. According to sources close to the family, his blood pressure decreased
drastically following which he was taken to Breach Candy Hospital. He breathed
his last at 5 am.
Last
evening, Bollywood got together to pay their tribute to the late producer. Rani
and her family organised a prayer meet at Juhu’s Iskon Temple which was
attended by the industry.

Kapoors, Karan Johar, yesteryear actress Asha Parekh- all attended the prayer
meet. While Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor came with their aunt Ritu Nanda,
Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were accompanied by Amitabh and Jaya
Bachchan.

one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai. He produced and wrote
Bengali and Hindi movies. He's best-known
for helming films like Hum Hindustani and Leader, starring Dilip Kumar and
Vyjayanthimala. He has also directed films like Raktanadir Dhara, Tomar
Rakte Amar Sohag, Raktalekha and Ek Bar Mooskura Do.He launched his daughter
Rani in the Bengali film Biyer Phool (1996). He also produced Rani's debut
Hindi film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.
