The Producers Guild of India recently issued a statement wherein they stated that Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was being used by some as a tool to defame and slander the film industry. They slammed the ‘relentless attacks’ on the film industry’s reputation. The statement came after Kangana Ranaut’s explosive allegations about 99 percent of Bollywood celebrities indulging in drugs. Stars such as Abhishek Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar,  Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan and others showed their support to the Producers Guild of India, and now, Kareena Kapoor Khan has also joined the list of celebs extending their support.

Celebs have been using the hashtag #insolidarity while sharing the statement by the Producers Guild of India. Farhan Akhtar’s sister Zoya Akhtar also shared the statement on her Instagram account. Now, Kareena has shared the post on her Instagram stories and standing in support, Kareena wrote, “with my industry,” along with a heart emoji. The statement by the Producers Guild of India reads, “The last few months have seen relentless attacks on the reputation of the Indian film industry across all media. The tragic death of a promising young star has been used by some as a tool to defame and slander the film industry and its members.”

It further states that a certain picture has been painted of the film industry as a terrible place for outsiders, ‘a murky den of substance abuse and criminality’, however, that isn’t the truth. The letter goes on to state that while the industry has its imperfections, painting the entire industry with the same brush is not right and is a misinterpretation of reality.
