Veteran actor Randhir Kapoor was residing in his old Chembur house for nearly ‘50 years’. Originally built by his father Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor, Randhir described the house as about 3,000 sq feet and was cosier. Now, the actor has shifted to a new place and a house warming party was conducted on July 2. His actor daughter Kareena Kapoor Khan attended the ceremony, joining her at the Griha Pravesh ritual and lunch were sister Karisma Kapoor, cousin Riddhima and aunt Neetu Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor too dropped by for some time. As Randhir has shifted to a new house in the city, closer to his daughters Kareena and Karisma, he revealed why he did not sell off his old Chembur house after shifting to a new abode.
Speaking to ETimes, Randhir Kapoor shared that he shifted to a new place as he started to get ‘lonely’ after the demise of brother Rajiv Kapoor. He said, “Rajiv largely stayed with me, he had a house in Pune but he was mostly in Mumbai. Now, I am moving near Babita, Bebo and Lolo's homes.” The actor also shared that he is geographically closer to his daughters, estranged wife Babita. Plus, he stated his family can visit him whenever they want.
When asked about selling off his old Chembur house, Mr Kapoor shared, “No, hamari haalat itni bhi buri nahi hain (we are not in dire straits). It stays as it was. It was just that it was a very big house and I was all alone,” adding that he has spent 50 years of his life at his previous house and made some ‘unforgettable’ memories there.
The Kapoor clan is a close-knit family. They are often seen attending festivals and important ceremonies together. Whenever they host lunch and dinner, the family makes sure to be a part of it.
