The film industry decides to make films the anti-tobacco message clear : Mukesh Bhatt leads the campaign
Bollywood has decided to make eight to ten short films with top actors and actresses to dissuade the youth and other strata of cinegoers from smoking.
The decision was taken last night at the meeting between the the filmmakers and I & B Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
A source says, "This came up first as a suggestion to avoid using 'No Smoking' disclaimers as banners or tickers in the film itself when required. Everyone present at the meeting endorsed the idea."
The first film in this line will be made by Karan Johar.
The films made in this regard will be submitted to the I&B Ministry which will then decide how to use them.
When contacted, Mukesh Bhatt confirmed the news and added, "There are no ifs and buts in this. The entire industry will have to chip in to make this a reality because the disclaimer is everyone's problem. I have taken charge of this move. And when Mukesh Bhatt takes charge of something, it has to happen."
