Filmmaker Karan Johar recently announced actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor’s debut in Bollywood. He took to his Instagram to reveal that he is all set to launch the star kid in his upcoming venture. While some were happy with the news, there were some who did not accept it. Considering the filmmaker is tagged as the ‘flagbearer of nepotism’, he had to bear the wrath of netizens as they think KJo really cut corners after he announced her launch.

Karan shared some gorgeous pictures of Shanaya and wrote, “Welcome to the #DCASquad, @shanayakapoor02! It’s going to be an unforgettable and exciting journey that begins with your first film with @DharmaMovies, this July.” Right after this, netizens started showering him with some hate messages where one said, “Seriously, can we go beyond the Kapoor family for new talent?” While another one commented, “Aagye karan ji star kids ko promote krne”. There was one more who simply asked, “How much money do you get to launch star kids?” So far, Karan has launched star kids including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, and others.

Earlier, talking about nepotism in an interview, Karan said that he has also launched non-nepotistic products in the industry but no one is talking about that. “We have introduced 21 debut directors. Out of which, I can say, 16-17 are not "nepotistic" young filmmakers. They are not from the fraternity or the industry. They are completely from outside,” Karan quoted saying by India Today.

"Why don't I get the benefit of that; my production house is launching kids who are directors/filmmakers. They are making major motion pictures and leading the game. They are not from the industry. Why don't I get credit for that? Why do they discredit some of the actors who are from (the industry)? Why do I have to justify it at first? I think they are talented enough to face the camera and maybe, one thing can say is that they get easy access, but after that, they have got a journey ahead," Karan added.
