Karan Johar’s 2001 iconic directorial Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a blockbuster film and had a star cast which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film was released 18 years ago, but the characters, a few scenes, songs and dialogues from K3G are remembered even today. This film was KJo’s second directorial, after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji.  Now, Karan Johar has opened up about the film and has called it the biggest slap on his face.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he shared that while making the film, he thought he was making the biggest film in Hindi cinema since Mughal-e-Azam, until Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai. He also called it the same film as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and that he took the storyline of Kabhi Kabhie and the family values of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and created this ‘mush of a film’.While K3G dominated the box-office during its release and emerged as a major commercial success, it performed badly when it came to reviews and awards. Karan Johar said, “K3G is the single biggest slap on my face and my biggest reality check.” ALSO READ: Shah Rukh Khan To Reunite With Karan Johar For A ‘Non-Experimental’ Film After Zero’s Debacle?
