Akshay Kumar recently took to his social media to share the first look of his upcoming flick ‘
Bell Bottom’. While the poster of the film was released by the star on his Twitter, the film stirred up a lot of controversies, with fans wondering if the film is anyways related to the Kannada film titled by the same name ‘Bell Bottom’. As Akshay Kumar cleared the air about the plot of the film, while the Kannada film Bell Bottom is directed by filmmaker Ravi Varma, Varma is considering legal action against Akshay’s film.
Talking with ETimes recently, Kannada film director Ravi Varma shared that they haven’t sent any legal notice to anyone yet but there should be no similarities between Kannada and Hindi film ‘Bell Bottom’. The director further added that after acquiring the rights of Bell Bottom, he gave the film to several production houses in Mumbai and mentioned that the co-producer of Hindi Bell Bottom, Nikkhil Advani is also one of them. Varma then went to express his feeling on the same and said that he strongly feels that they have taken the concept and the style from the Kannada 'Bell Bottom' movie.
Further adding on to the similarities the poster of the Hindi Bell Bottom share with the Kannada one, he mentioned that he has informed the Hindi team about it and they told him the Akshay Kumar himself will discuss the issue with him. Ravi Varma explained that someone from his team had booked the Hindi title for Bell Bottom and shared that he was confused as to how the makers of the Kumar starrer got the hand of the title. Varma also shared that there was a rumour that the guy in control of the title had sold it to the makers of the Hindi Bell Bottom.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom will be helmed by Ranjit M Tiwari of the film Lucknow Central and the actor will be seen playing the role of a spy. The Hindi film ‘Bell Bottom’ is slated to hit theatres on January 22, 2021.
