Kangana Ranaut has often championed women’s causes – be it the pay divide in Bollywood or her refusal to endorse a brand of fairness cream.

One to usually raise her voice for women empowerment, the actress was but naturally asked for her opinion on Salman Khan’s “Raped Woman” comment at the launch of the short film Kriti this afternoon.

Kangana was at her graceful best as she replied, “We all agree it’s a horrible thing to say. It is something which is extremely insensitive. What I want to say is that let’s not encourage a mentality where we point fingers at each other or want to feel greater by just running people down. As a society, we have to take responsibility and stand united. It’s disgrace to the whole society and not one individual. So what Salim Uncle says is right that we are all sorry about it. It’s not about one individual, we all collectively feel sorry about the thought process.”
