Kangana Ranaut adds yet another jewel to her crown. The actress is all set to play a Queen again only this time, its a historical figure. From the 1850s, to be precise.
Kangana has been signed on to play Rani Lakshmi Bai in Ketan Mehtas biopic on the warrior queen. (Come to think of it, she is just as feisty!)
The actress was thrilled when she heard the narration and has agreed to come on board. She will train in horse riding, sword-fighting and other warfare skills to do justice to her character.
The film will be an Indo-British production. And this is where it gets really exciting.
So the makers are looking for an actor to play the character of General Hugh Rose (who was given command of the Central Indian Field Force and defeated the Indian rebels at Jhansi in 1858). And who are they eyeing?
Hugh Grant! (Lucky, lucky, lucky you, Kangana!)
The team plans to approach the international star soon. Ketan will roll the film mid-next year and it will be shot in Hindi and English.
Interestingly, Ketan was said to be making the film with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2005, but things didnt work out. Even Sushmita Sen was keen on playing the warrior queen. But now, Kangana it is!
