Kangana Ranaut Was Offered Saand Ki Aankh Prior To Taapsee And Bhumi; Rangoli Reveals Actor Had Suggested Neena Gupta’s Name Instead

After nepotism, Ranaut sisters have now sparked ageism debate in Bollywood. It all started with Tapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Saand Ki Aankh’s trailer which was dropped yesterday. While the actresses garnered huge appreciation for their stellar performance in the trailer, netizens can’t wait for the movie to hit the theatres. Soon after makers dropped the trailer of the film, netizens said they would have loved to see slightly older actress like Neena Gupta, Shabana Azmi or other actress playing the role of Chand Tomar or Prakashi Tomar. But now looks like, this has sparked ageism debate in the Bollywood.

Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel recently took to social media to slam a few filmmakers for not casting a slightly older actress. Rangoli also revealed that Saand Ki Aankh was first offered to Kangana but the Manikarnika actress had suggested Neena Gupta’s name to the makers. Rangoli’s Tweet read, “Rangoli wrote, “Neena ji Kangana was offered this movie and she loved the true story of Grandmom’s achievements she suggested yours and Ramya Krishnan ma’am’s name for lead roles but these men can’t remove deeply rooted sexism from their filthy brains...”

In her next tweet, Rangoli then wrote, “We will never have a Meryl Streep in India if we keep shamelessly displaying older women phobia like this... shame on you all Bolly filth... for promoting sexism in the name of feminism ...”

Talking about the tweet, the user appreciated Bhumi and Taapsee in its tweet. The Tweet read, “I love @bhumipednekar and @taapsee but I kinda wish older actors were cast in these roles. Could you imagine @Neenagupta001 and @AzmiShabana or Jaya Bachchan? #SaandKiAankh” Replying to the tweet Neena Gupta had said, “Yes i was just thinking about this hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai”
