Kangana Ranaut won’t be arrested till January 25, 2022, pertaining to an FIR filed against her for her anti-Sikh Instagram post. As reported in ETimes, the Bombay High Court arrived at this decision after the state government assured that she will appear at the Khar Police station on December 22, 2021. The Panga actress on the said date will be recording her statement regarding the farmer’s protest. The actress has termed the farmers’ protest on Punjab borders as Khalistani movement.
Now this comment of the actress has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. According to the bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and Sarang Kotwal, this case is about the actress’ fundamental right to free speech, hence the court will have to grant her ad-interim relief in this case. The Manikarnika actress has also approached the High Court requesting them to quash the FIR registered against her. Back then advocate Rizwan Sidiquee who had filed a plea for the actress, included though there was objection taken against the remarks she made, there was no legal case filed against her.
After the actress’ commented on the farmers’ protest as a Khalistani movement, police had reportedly booked a case against her under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code for purposely hurting the religious sentiment of the certain community.
