Filmmaker-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut left the internet with mixed reactions when she revealed that she has joined the political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Having established herself as one of the most versatile actresses in the Hindi film industry, she has been taking to her official social media handles to share glimpses of her journey. On Wednesday, she took X to slam Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala for passing a derogatory remark against veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini.
Extending her support to the Sholay actress, Ranaut also said, “If they see a young woman, they comment on her body parts. And a 75-year-old senior woman, who is a classical Bharatanatyam dancer, is called Nachaniya or dancer... They don't even leave an elderly woman, what kind of life do they want women to live in. It would be better if they dig their own graves and bury themselves in it.”
Reacting to Surjewala’s derogatory, on Thursday, Hema Malini expressed that the opposition party should learn how to respect women from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. FPJ quoted her saying, “They target only popular people because targeting the unpopular ones won't do them any good... They should learn how to respect women from PM Narendra Modi.” It was after the backlash that Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala issued a clarification and stated that he never intended to insult or hurt the veteran actress.
