Recently, Team Kangana Ranaut’s tweets mocking Deepika Padukone’s posts on depression, took social media by storm. In the tweets, Kangana wrote that people should stop using mental illness so loosely, saying that mental illness has no diagnosis based on blood reports or scans, and that anyone can gather a mob and declare one a psycho. Many opposed Kangana’s tweet, as she termed it ‘depression ka dhandha’. In her next few tweets, Kangana explained that they termed her bipolar, and she didn’t know how to prove her sanity. She also added that she wants people to believe when someone says they do not have a mental illness. She also urged people to not force mental illness on her or Sushant Singh Rajput.
Kangana's tweet read, “Let’s not forget they declared me a bipolar, forget bipolar I never had minor depression either, but I was helpless I didn’t know what to do to fight their claims they were too many in numbers and I was alone,how to prove my sanity? let’s not do this to people, let them be .” In another tweet, she wrote that there’s no proof of medical illness, and that it has become the new witchhunt of genuine talent by mediocrity, and that she hopes this stops.
Adding to this, she also mentioned how they believe Deepika Padukone’s depression is real, and Kangana only wants the same respect- that is, for people to believe her when she says she isn’t mentally ill.
