Kangana Ranaut’s ability to mould and get under the skin of her onscreen character has landed her with some of the most lucrative projects of her career. Previously impressing people with the portrayal of Lakshmi Bai, the Rani of Jhansi in the movie, Manikarnika, the actress is now set to play yet another iconic character of late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her next. The actress dropped a couple of old pictures on her social media account where she looked like the late PM, with the help of makeup and styling.
Along with the old photoshoot picture, she also shared a screenshot of the news piece which confirmed the actress coming on board for the flick. In the screenshot it was mentioned that the film is based on a book, however, the name was not revealed by the actress. Directed by Sai Kabir, she confirmed it won’t be a biopic but a movie to understand the socio-political aspect of the Indian society. The actress will be producing this film under her banner; it will also cover the emergency imposed during Indira Gandhi’s tenure and also operation Blue Star that was carried out back then.
The actress confirmed the script for the film being in its final stages. Sharing this news, the actress penned in her Tweet, “Kangana will essay the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in an upcoming political drama. The script is in the final stages. It is not a biopic but it is a grand period film that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India.”
