Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence in Mumbai on 3 June 2013. Her sudden demise sent shockwaves across the entire film industry and her death was investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Last year in August, Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan recorded her testimony and claimed that her daughter was ‘physically and verbally’ abused by her then-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi. Now, as per the update on the case, the court will deliver its verdict on April 28.
As per the latest reports, the special Central Bureau of Investigation court will deliver its verdict on abetment to suicide charges in the Jiah Khan case next Friday. The final arguments before Special Judge A S Sayyad was ended on Thursday. In her testimony, Rabia revealed that Sooraj approached Jiah on social media and asked her to meet him. At first, she was ‘apprehensive and reluctant to meet him but later she agreed. The two met for the first time in September 2012. “At that time she sent some pictures… to me it looked like they clicked and had mutual interest… However, in September she (Jiah) told me they were just friends,” Khan said in the court.
Earlier this month, Sooraj Pancholi had recorded his statement under section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code denying all allegations against him. The actor said he was falsely implicated and that the claims that he abused Jiah when they were in a relationship are false and wrong. Back in 2019, the trial in the Jiah Khan case began and Pancholi since then has been facing the charge under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
