Now, we have another update on that front. The next instalment of Welcome will be helmed by choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan. The first two parts were directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. We wonder what made Firoz change his mind? What led to Bazmee’s ouster? Is is because his last directorial Mubarakan didn’t perform well at the box-office? Also, the fact that Ahmed Khan’s Baaghi franchise raked in good numbers, could possibly be one of the reasons for Nadiadwala’s change of plan.
A quick recap- Welcome released in 2007 and it starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Feroz Khan and Mallika Sherawat. Welcome Back released in 2015 and it featured Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Paresh Rawal, John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Shiney Ahuja.
While Awara Paagal Deewana released in 2002 had a huge star-cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivadasani, Paresh Rawal, Preeti Jhangiani, Amrita Arora and Aarti Chhabria.
Speaking of John’s last release Batla House,
it continues minting good numbers at the ticket windows. According to BoxOfficeIndia, so far the film has done Rs 75.75 crore in the domestic market which is quite a good number despite the clash with Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal.
Clearly, John is enjoying a good run in his career and with 3 big films in his kitty, we think it’s going to get bigger and better here on and with Ahmed Khan taking over the directorial reins, let’s see what he brings about on the table as the earlier two parts did quite well commercially.
