Not very long ago, the trailer of Bhumi Pednekar starrer Durgamati had hit the internet. The Akshay Kumar produced film saw Bhumi in a very fierce avatar that impressed a huge section of the internet. However, a lot of people weren't very happy with the outcome. Reason? Durgamati is the Hindi remake of south film Bhaagamathie, which starred Anushka Shetty. Well, that instantly gave birth to comparisons. As per the south superstar's fans, Bhumi Pednekar couldn't do justice to that of Shetty's performance. They even went on to call Durgamati a spoof of the original. Now, Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta, who plays a pivotal role in Durgamati, has shared his two cents on all the comparisons.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Jisshu said how the makers of Durgamati have inculcated a lot of changes in the remake and that it is much better than the original. Jisshu said, "There will be comparisons. Before the film releases, there are a lot of comments and a lot comparison which happen usually be it a remake or a normal film. Because I don’t know how people get to know the film. After watching the trailer, they get to know everything about the film. So, that’s the power of social media I guess."
He added, "But then again, you need to watch the film, after watching it they’ll understand…. I can’t say it completely but whatever I have understood, the film is….yes, it is a remake but there are little changes here and there that makes the film much better than Bhaagamathie.”
He then thanked fans for appreciating his performance and hopes that the film impresses one and all. “It is always good when people appreciate and the kind of comments you get, the love you receive from social media after the trailer is launched, you obviously feel great and I am actually feeling good. Now I am waiting for the film to get released and people to watch it," concluded Jisshu. He was also seen in Mahesh Bhatt's Sadak 2.
