Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapoor starrer upcoming sports drama ‘Jersey’ is the most-awaited film releasing this month. The movie will see Shahid in the role of an ace cricketer Arjun who decides to revive his cricket career in his mid-30s after being driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfill his son's wish for a jersey as a gift. ‘Jersey’ was slated to hit the theatres, this Thursday, April 14 and the promotions for the same have been going on in full swing. However, as per the latest update, the release date of the film has been postponed.
Yes, you read that right! Fans have to wait a bit longer to watch the film. ‘Jersey’, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, will now release on 22nd April 2022. The release has been pushed by a week. In a statement, the film’s producer Aman Gill said, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.”
Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor has been promoting the film on his social media handles as well. Yesterday, he shared a sweet video that compiled his onscreen moments with his father Pankaj Kapoor and reel life son. The Jab We Met actor called Jersey a ‘special film’. Alongside a video, Shahid wrote, “ When art imitates life... And life imitates art! To play a father for the first time and working with my own father in the same film almost feels poetic… #Jersey will always be special to me for this beautiful experience.”
Jersey is the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name.
