Mrunal Thakur is among those actresses who have made a successful transition from TV to the big screen. Known for her stint in the popular show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, Mrunal has indeed come a long way in her career and she is now just unstoppable. The diva made her Bollywood debut with the 2018 film ‘Love Sonia’, before getting recognition in Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 and Farhan Akhtar’s Toofan. Mrunal is now gearing up for her next film ‘Jersey’ with Shahid Kapoor.
The Gowtam Tinnanuri’s sports drama marks Mrunal’s first collaboration with the Kabir Singh actor. Their sizzling chemistry in the Jersey trailer and songs and their strong camaraderie during film promotions speak volumes about their friendship. In no time, both have become really good friends. In an interview with us, Mrunal shared her experience of working with Shahid and said "it’s like a dream come true" for her. She said the Haider actor helped her to perform scenes and made her understand her character better.
She said, “What Shahid made me understand is that I am a 2020 girl but the character I’m playing in Jersey is not a 2020 girl. She’s from a 1992 or 1996 era girl. He really helped me to understand my character better and also helped me in performing scenes.” Mrunal added that for her “Shahid Kapoor was like learning.” “I have learned so many things from him on the sets. I really appreciate the universe for making it happen,” she further stated.
The Batla House actress also reflected back on her teenage days and revealed that she and her sister used to cut Shahid’s pictures and used to get scolding from their parents.
On a related note, Jersey is an adaptation of his 2019 Telugu film of the same title starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of Arjun, a failed yet talented cricketer who returns to the sport in his 30s to fulfill his son’s wish for a jersey as a gift. Also starring veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, the film will hit theaters on December 31.
