Keerthy Suresh bagged the Best Actress Award at the National Film Award 2019, setting in a celebratory mood for the actress. She was honoured for her performance in the Telugu film Mahanati, where she played character of Savitri. On this joyous moment Keerthy said, “My mother was supposed to win the National Award for her first Malayalam movie. She was loved for her role. The movie got 10-11 national awards and she was expecting one. There were last minute changes and it didn’t happen. She always used to talk about it. I thought I should fulfill her dream and that is one of the reasons I got into acting. Never expected something so huge when I took up this role.”
Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor congratulated her for winning the prestigious award. Sharing an image of Keerthy with father Boney Kapoor on her Instagram story, she wrote on the image, "@keerthysureshofficial congratulations on winning the best actress nationalawards!!!! I'mso thrilled you more than deserved it #mahanati". Boney Kapoor’s next production venture will launch Keerthy in Bollywood. Several reports have also stated that the actress is paired opposite Ajay Devgn for her Bollywood debut.
However, no official announcement has been made by the actor or the production banner so far. Janhvi was in awe of Keerthy’s work after she watched Mahanti. Janhvi recently wrapped up the shoot of RoohiAfzah starring Rajkummar Rao and will move on to Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 in the month of October. She is also shooting Kargil Girl, based on the life of pilot Gunjan Saxena of Indian Air Force and lastly will begin with multi-starrer Takht in February 2020.
