Jamia Protest: Anurag Kashyap Makes Comeback On Twitter; Says ‘This Has Gone Too Far, Can’t Stay Silent’

There are currently several protests taking place across India against CAA or the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The protests erupted after the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed into an act by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, after it was sanctioned by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. A protest was also organized by the students of Jamia Milia Islamia, which later turned into violent clashes between the protesters and the Delhi Police. The latter allegedly used tear gas and batons in order to diffuse the crowd. A lot of people took to their social media, raising concerns and slamming the Delhi Police. Now, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who quit Twitter back in August, has now returned to the micro-blogging site to break his silence on Jamia Milia protests.

Anurag Kashyap whose last tweet was from August 2019, returned four months later and wrote that things have gone too far and he can’t stay silent any longer. He tweeted, “This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer . This government is clearly fascist .. and it makes me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet.” He also retweeted several videos from news channels showing the Delhi Police’s actions as well as videos of students from Jamia speaking up about it. ALSO READ: Anurag Kashyap Quits Twitter Alleging Threats To Daughter And Parents, Says "Thugs Will Rule And Thuggery Will Be The New Way Of Life" 

For those unaware, Anurag Kashyap had quit Twitter on August 10, after his family was threatened online.  Anurag Kashyap, known for voicing his opinions on Twitter without fear or reservations, had left the microblogging site after sharing two tweets about his decision citing online threats to his family’s safety.
