The trailer of Radhika Apte-starrer Phobia has left everyone intrigued. The psychological thriller, which has its central character suffering from agoraphobia, has won acclaim for its chilling trailer.

But look a little closer and it bears striking similarities with the 2013 Hollywood film by the same name – Phobia.

Don’t believe us? We’ve got 3 uncanny similarities between the Pavan Kirpalani film and the Rory Douglas film – that is, besides the shared name.

1.
The protagonists of both the films are seen suffering from agoraphobia – an anxiety disorder where the person perceives the environment to be dangerous or unsafe and avoids ordinary places for a fear of panic attack.

2.
The trailer of the Radhika Apte film shows that she is scared of spiders. The Hollywood film’s poster too makes a reference to spiders, where the insect is seen coming out of the eyes of the central character.

3.
In the Hollywood film, the protagonist’s (Michael Jefferson) tenuous existence is shattered when an invader breaks into his house. Ditto for the Radhika-starrer.
