Says the team's vice-captain Virat Kohli's girlfriend Anushka Sharma, who also talks about NH 10, Bombay Velvet, Dil Dhadakne Do and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Anushka Sharma is in a mood to talk. We caught up with her at Film City (Goregaon) for an exclusive interview. Excerpts:
Why did you turn producer?
I had never planned to be a producer. I didn’t go looking for scripts. Two years ago, I was offered NH 10. But I couldn't do the film as I was busy shooting a couple of other films then. One fine day, Anurag Kashyap happened to mention the film on the sets of Bombay Velvet and asked me if I would be interested in reading it again. No producer had come on board till then. My instinct said that I should back this film completely. It's a fabulous story of a couple who plan a weekend trip only to find themselves embroiled in a very unpleasant incident.
The film has been shot mainly outdoors, Was it tough?
Tough? It was daunting. I had to run in the jungles. That took its toll on my back. My condition worsened when I had to dance for Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do. I still get back spasms. I am undergoing physiotherapy.
NH 10 has foul language. The new Censor Board Chairman (Pahlaj Nihalani) has banned cuss words...
NH 10 is a real film. No dialogues have been said for just the heck of it. I've never associated myself with those kind of films anyway. Let's see what happens at the Censor Board table.
Over to Bombay Velvet...
Bombay Velvet is a unique film. Its a beautiful love story. Working with Anurag Kashyap (BV's director) has been immensely exciting. He is a superb filmmaker.
How was it working with Zoya?
Zoya has a great insight into relationships. Everyone will relate to Dil Dhadakne Do. I had a great time with the entire cast. Priyanka is a very friendly person to work with. We dont hang out with each other but we talk a lot at parties and awards. I have a very easy working relationship with Ranveer. Farhan is very nice and real. And Anil Kapoor was the coolest of them all. What more would I want?
Tell us about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Karan has put his heart into its story. I am a big fan of Karan. I can narrate dialogues from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. I was very jealous of Sana Saed when K2H2 hit the theatres. I felt that I should have been cast in her place. As for Aishwarya Rai, I can't wait to work with her.
Have you ever interacted with Aishwarya?
I had met her at Karan's party once. We had a good conversation. She told me a few incidents that have happened in her life and for the first time I felt that I wanted to know more about someone.
Are you watching cricket more these days?
(Smiles) I used to watch a lot of cricket when I was growing up. I remember planning my studies in such a way so that I watch India batting. But I didnt understand the game earlier, it was only about who's winning and who's losing. But now, I take interest.
Why?
Now I watch because I want to see Virat (Kohli) play.
He is batting at No.3 but there's a school of thought that he should drop down to No.4. What's your take on that?
I won't be the right person to give you the right answer. There are better people than me to decide that.
Can Dhoni and Virat lift the Word Cup 2015?
Yes, I think they can.
Any plans of getting married soon?
No plans. It will happen just when I feel like it. I am a very instinctive person.
