As we celebrate our 75th Independence Day today, every citizen feels a sense of pride and love towards the country, while acknowledging the freedom that we have to live our lives by our own choices. The day instils different kinds of feelings in everyone and patriotism has different meanings for each and every citizen across the country. In an exclusive conversation with Spotboye.com, Himansh Kohli and Akanksha Puri share their feelings about what being patriotic means to them.
Himansh Kohli: I have started acknowledging whatever growth I can see in my country. We have come out of a very pathetically negative time, so coming out of it, I have started noticing and appreciating even the minutest of growth around us. Everyone complains about everything in life as things don’t always happen as we want but I feel that as an Indian, you don’t need to become patriotic, you just need to love your country. When you start loving your country, you start acknowledging the little things about it, and when you don’t love it, you ignore even the biggest of growth.
I see this in the countries outside that people flaunt their countries. There are so many t-shirts made with the US flag that even we wear many times since the design looks so good. That’s a way for them to show their love towards their nation and they even take it outside their own country and make it popular as a trend or fashion.
Akanksha Puri: I love my country. I feel that loving your country and contributing to it in whichever way possible is really necessary. Your contribution can be really small too. For example, getting vaccinated in today’s time might seem like a small thing but is a big contribution and still some people aren’t doing it. So, do this for your nation and make it a Covid free country. We need to be aware about the little responsibilities we have towards our country and we should fulfil them.
