The grand event is being hosted by Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan.

After putting their glamorous foot forward at IIFA Rocks, celebs including Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon are all set to enthral New Yorkers with their performances.

Bollywood contingent has already been building curiosity amongst fans with their rehearsal videos on social media. Varun, who is making his debut appearance at the IIFA awards, said he will pay tribute to his father David Dhawan by performing on the filmmakers’ chartbuster songs. He will also launch the new version of Onchi Hai Building and Tan Tana Tan from his upcoming film Judwaa 2. Shahid, on the other hand will put forth a MJ (Michael Jackson) version of Bismil, Dhantanan, Gandi Baat and Saadi Ka Fall.

Alia had earlier confessed that she is nervous about her upcoming performance as she too is making her debut on the IIFA stage.

The first-ever International Indian Film Academy Awards were held in 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London and since then the glitzy ceremony has traversed 12 countries.

This is the second IIFA outing in the US. The 2014 edition of the event, touted as the Oscars of Bollywood, was held in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The kick-off party for the three-day 18th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend started on Thursday night with the Stomp At Times Square- a free-for-public Bollywood event right opposite the iconic red stairs of Times Square.

Besides the IIFA Stomp, the Sheraton hotel at Times Square, where the Bollywood stars including Katrina, Varun, Alia, Sushant and Shahid are staying has become a buzzing spot for fans wanting a glimpse of their favourite movie idols.

The spectacle is naturally a big draw for the Indian Diaspora in the US but a lot of local Bollywood fans too have joined the festivities.
