Actress Huma Qureshi, who is gearing up for the release of her next project ‘Double XL’, has recently opened up about dealing with body-shaming for years. In a new interview, she recalled facing fat shaming and said that it erodes someone’s confidence. The actress also mentioned that women suffer from this issue every day. Huma also pointed out that her ‘anti-body-shaming’ film ‘Double XL’ aims to bring a positive change in society.
Speaking with Mid-day, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor asserted that this problem is so deeply rooted in us. She was quoted saying, “We look at women’s bodies and use dismissive words. Body shaming erodes somebody’s confidence. When we make a film about it and use our position as actors to create awareness, we start a healthy conversation.” The actress further explained that rather than a documentary, they were keen to make an entertaining film that targets the maximum audience and brings a positive change in people’s mindsets. Also starring Sonakshi Sinha Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra, the film will help to empower women. In order to get into the skin of her role, Huma Qureshi has left no stone unturned. She gained weight for the film and stretched herself, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
‘Double XL’ has been directed by Satram Ramani and the makers will soon announce its release date.
