Hollywood Giants Martin Scorsese And Christopher Nolan To Confer Megastar Amitabh Bachchan With 2021 FIAF Award

Yet another feather to be soon added to megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s hat. The actor will be conferred with the 2021 FIAF Award by The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) at a ceremony to be hosted virtually on March 19, 2021. As per reports in ANI, Variety.com carried the news piece that stated Hollywood filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan will give this award to Big B for his initiative towards preserving world cinema for the current and the upcoming generation.

As reported in TOI, the actor is honoured to be recognized with this award, as he mentions how he has been closely working with the Film Heritage Foundation to save our films. The actor became the ambassador for Film Heritage Foundation in 2015. He said, “I am greatly honoured to receive this award for a cause that I am deeply committed to. When I became the ambassador of the Film Heritage Foundation in 2015, I realised the extent of the neglect and colossal loss of our precious film heritage and how we continue to lose more of our legacy every day.”

He further added after coming on board he understood the urgency of this issue and has been working on it ever since. “Recognising the urgency of the situation, I have been working closely with them to do everything in our power to save our films and build a movement for film preservation in our part of the world,’ added Big B.

Big B said, “We must strengthen the idea that film archiving is as essential as filmmaking, and I do hope that we are able to garner further support for this cause from my colleagues in the film industry and the government, to enable us to realise our dream for building a centre that will preserve and showcase our magnificent film heritage.”
