Rani Mukerji is all set to break stereotypes with Oye
Hichki. The first song from Hichki, is out and it talks about the issues prevalent
in the society – be it preference for fair skin or sexism.
This is indeed a great attempt to take on the existing stereotypes in our
society. Hindi cinema has evolved immensely in the last few years and concept
driven films like Hichki only add more to our movie-going experience.
Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Hichki is about Naina
Mathur (Rani), who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome, that forces an
individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds. Hichki focusses
on turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges that
life throws at one and ultimately winning over them. It is also a subtle
reminder about discrimination that exists in our society and has become a part
of our daily lives. It highlights this through the story of Naina, who faces
discrimination from our society that firmly believes she cannot be a teacher
because of her disorder.
Rani has time and again proved her mettle with exemplary performances in films
like Mardaani, No One Killed Jessica and Black, etc. So, expectations are high
from Hichki. The film is scheduled to release on March 23.
Oye Hichki song from Hichki will play exclusively today at 3 pm on 9xm Tashan
and 9XM Jawa.
